Friday (Day 1) & Saturday (Day 2)

February 26, 2010.
Friday Night...Day 1
.

We spent Friday night in the Altoona ER. Surprisingly it only took two nurses and three tries to get my IV. Although this spot is not ideal, it worked. We will see how long this lasts, cause every time the elbow bends more than 1/8 o' an inch my IV machine starts beeping and blinking "occlusion". Yeah for the nurse!

My Lovely IV.
(Please note Ace holding my hand.)

Me & the CT drink...BLAA!!!

February 27, 2010.
Saturday...Day 2.

It just so happens that my first full day in the hospital was Saturday, the day everyone comes to Altoona to get things done! My first guests Dan & Jackie Yingling, had just been visited by ME while DAN was in the hospital. Funny story how in less than a week, they were already returning the favor!! Haha... They were up in Altoona doing some grocery shopping and other errands that they needed to run. They stopped off at the store to get me a small bag o' candy (Double Flavor, Jolly Ranchers). Here are the pictures from their visit:

The three o' us. Isn't this a GREAT picture.
Jackie, Dan, Me.

So this picture is particularly funny because we didn't know what we were all going to do. The "signature Dan pose" is the hat on sideways with a BIG smile on his face. Jackie was giving Dan "bunny ears" and I was giving Dan "antler ears"...isn't it funny how it was "let's do a silly picture" so we both gave Dan ears (bunny/antler). Haha...
Gotta have a silly picture.

Look! They brought me candy!!

Gotta have a feet picture.
Can you guess who is who in this picture?

Isn't this a LOVELY picture?

It was seriously seconds after Dan & Jackie walked out o' my room that Jillian and Becky walked in! Haha...how nice to see more smiling faces, and these faces both got their hair cut! They both came up to Altoona to do some shopping, eat (I think), and get all their hair chopped off! I think they look younger; however, someone told Jill she looked older. So we are going to vote: OLDER or YOUNGER? What do you think?
Does their new haircut make them look:
Older??? or Younger???

YEAH...another Feet Picture!!!

*Gasp*...more candies!!!

What great friends God blessed me with.

It's a li'l blurry...but we're still gorgeous!

Having all these friends come and visit me on my first full day at the hospital was SO encouraging. Thanks to all my friends that came to visit me and cheer me up! So where was my hubby thru all this? Ace had to work at a YBC Contractor show in State College. He left me at 12 and didn't return back to my room till late late that evening. We both fell asleep, cuddled together. Around midnight, I woke up crying in pain. So I buzzed for the nurse to bring me my pain shot. She walked in, gave my my shot, and this next part is blurry, but I sawl the nurse walking Ace out o' the room. He never came back. I woke up in the a.m. and sawl that Ace was still gone...maybe he slept in the car? Nope, the keys were on the shelf. At 11 when Ace came back to the room he told me what happened. The nurse told Ace he couldn't stay with me in the room, so they took him to the lounge where he spent the rest o' the night with his legs dangling off the couch. Ah...fun night, right?

UPDATE: The Doctor never came to visit at ALL! Not sure why he never stopped by on today (Saturday). Hopefully he will stop by tomorrow (Sunday). Just want some answers! Sick o' hearing the same thing..."We don't know what to do!" "Never seen this before in my life!" Ugh...answers or progress would be nice!

THE END!!!

Trip to China.

As many o' you may remember, this past fall our home was open to two Juniata College students. Daniella, from Venezuela, and Nara, from China both stayed in our guest room. Well, Nara invited me to a Chinese Dinner they were having to celebrate the new year. It was really lots o' fun. Here are some o' the pictures that we took from the evening.

This is Vita & Nara grew up in the same city in China and also went to high school together. They both go to Juniata college and are great friends.

Vita, Me, Nara

Haha...right before the show.

Some o' the students involved.
?, Vita, Sophia, Nara, Cong, Kevin?, Fred?

Adam & I
Ready to eat some REAL Chinese Food.

The Menu...YUMMY!!

Cong did the technical stuff.
Loved the li'l kids looking over his shoulder.

Nunchuck Ninja.

My plate o' food.
(I liked & ate EVERYTHING, just so you know!)

Dianne, Me, Nara, and Sophia (the girl in charge).

Adam, Me, daughter Nara

This girl did a traditional Chinese dance.

She was flexible.

All the freshman sang a song.
It was such a wonderful time, we enjoyed all the songs, dances, nunchuck routine, food, and at our table we were able to sit with a sweet family. I didn't get any pictures o' them; however, they knew both my mom and dad and family. They were a very sweet Christian family, and also knew my Aunt Patty, so the conversation was not dull at our table. So that was really an awesome blessing. Also, the father, Frank works at the prison where I work. Haha...what a small world, right? When we went we were really worried we'd get stuck with people we didn't know and it just be really awkward, but the Lord worked it out so we were able to have a very comfortable dinner! (:

Ohio Trip

Leaving our house and going to the airport to fly out o' State College, to D.C., then to Dayton. Due to an unforseen circumstance (me getting sick), we missed our flight. We tried to get the next flight, but b/c o' the severe snow storm on it's way, all the flight for the next 4 days were all cancelled. So we were stuck in State College deciding what to do:

Option #1: We could rent a car and drive to Dayton, then fly back. (An extra $150, but we could still fly back and wouldn't lose our plane tickets for good.)

Option #2: Just forget about the whole entire trip, drive back home and stay home for the weekend. (TWrite off all the money spent on the tickets and take the hit.)

Option #3: Drive to Ohio in our car, forget about the flight home (since we can't leave our car in Ohio) and drive back as well. Just forget about flying altogether. (We'd just have to pay for gas in the car, and again write off the money spent on the tickets)

Leaving just a bit late...

Ashley stopped over to wish us off.

We chose option #3. I was very upset. B/c I've always accepted that my sickness affects what I do. I'm constantly making plans and having to change them b/c I don't feel good, or I get sick and have to cancel or scheduled to work and having to call in sick. But this was the first time that my sickness affected other people. So it all was pretty hard for me. But it all worked out good b/c our flights got canceled. So if we would have made our flight, we would have been stuck down in D.C. for a couple days. The Lord works mysteriously!

Finally in OHIO.

Adam with Eli and Mr. Bojangles.

Meeting Baby Eli...

I think Adam liked Eli...

Us.

Eli's expression when he met us.
"*Gasp*...you guys are AWESOME!"

We gave him a comb-over!

See the smirk on his face?
He
loves my kisses.

Me & Eli.

Love this outfit.

He's got a cute li'l monkey butt! (:

Us babysitting so Cody & Erica could go to the store.

Not sure if you can tell or not, but
We were using Eli's blanket to
get his hair all static-y.

He's got Erica's "wink"...

I think this was my favorite outfit.

Can you see Eli's smile?!?

Snugglin' with Auntie Jillie...

Such a darling...

Poor Eli was trying to sleep...

...and we kept taking picture...after picture

He's so tiny...LOVE IT!

Adam was "playing" with Eli's lip.
(Pointing out that it resembled Cody's lip!)

I was trying to wake him up here...
clearly, he wasn't interested!!!

He really didn't want to wake up...

Surprise party for Adam...

Only 8 candles, you have to do some math:
(8 x 3 = 24 +2 = 26! SIMPLE!)

Watching Cody light the candles.

It took a long time...
there were a lot o' candles.

Blowing them all out...

...in one breath...

Ok, he blew all but ONE out.

Gramma & Eli...no he's not spoiled...

Traveling to PA in the snow storm.

I was scared. Just glad Adam drove.
Oh, this is a major road too!

We stopped at a rest stop to take, well, a rest stop and I was SO thirsty. So I had a dollar bill in my pocket. I tried to get the machine to take my money, but it wouldn't. Figuring it was out o' change, we both met in the car and Adam said he would take two quarters and get me a drink.

Here's the drink machines.

It gave us TWO for 50 cents.

Pit Stop at Grove City.

On the way home, we decided to stop at Doug and Heidi's house for lunch. They had plan to go to the Robert's house for lunch. After a few phone calls, we were all invited to the Roberts for ham, potatoes, corn, green beans, iced tea, and hot apple dessert! It was nice to visit with the family and go over and visit with the Roberts as well.

Caden, up from his nap and sick.

Playing with Uncle Adam.

...and here I thought Caden only gave Jesse this look.

Poor Caden was sick & not feeling good.

Caden & Uncle Ace/Adam.

Caden Loves Shoes...

...my shoes are his favorite.

Caden LOVES zippers.

Caden & Uncle Adam...ready to go to lunch.

What we came home to...lots o' snow!

Missing our airplaine all worked out because if we would have made our flight, we would have been stuck in DC for two extra days. All because o' all this snow storm!! So you see, God works everything out for good. Even though we can't see it, it's all in God's plan. When we missed our plane and we were talking about having to drive 7 hours instead o' flying 3 hours; however, we would've had to miss two days o' work, which means MONEY!! So it's all perfect! Glad we drove safely thru the awful weather. We had a wonderful time with family and friends. Can't wait to visit again. Sometime soon, we hope!

THE END!!!
