Happy One Year Anniversary!!!

Well, it's hard to believe that Ace & I have been married for one year. What a long year it has been. It feels like we've been married for longer b/c o' all the excitement we have been through. There is never a dull moment in our lives. So in this blog post will recap us meeting, dating, ups & downs, marriage, etc... Enjoy the post as I start going through our pictures and posting them!! *Before the Wedding*
The Background.

WE were set up by mutual friends. Fred and Hannah planned the whole thing. Another interesting li'l known fact is that Fred and Hannah also hooked up my sister (Heidi McCracken) and their college friend Doug Stewart (whom the Defendorf's went to school with). How cute, right?

* The Proposal *

Adam proposed to me on 11.22.08 late in the evening as we stopped by my parents new property where my rents will be building their new house. Adam kept saying how badly he wanted to see my dad's garage, so we stopped by to see it. That was when he proposed; however, he wanted to kiss me and I told him that we couldn't kiss b/c there were deer walking around and I could hear the dead leaves cracking underneath their feet.

*Honeymoon*

Our original honeymoon plan was to go to St. Thomas for a week; however, after my surgery, the doctor's said, "NO" to traveling! So a friend o' ours offered to let us stay in their camper for a few days! So we went camping. It wasn't St. Thomas, there was no beach, no sand, but it was very relaxing and a lot o' memories.

Cooking out...We're a bit chilly.

*Hospital Stay #1*

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

This was Adam's first hospital experience with me as a married man. The stay was two weeks long. Adam worked all day, rushed to be by my side, often skipping lunch or supper, then he would rub my face and calm me till I fell fast asleep. This "summer vacation" as I said before lasted 2 l-o-n-g weeks; however, J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital is only 6 or 7 blocks from our house house. So PTL it wasn't such a far trip.

We get to watch cable!

We sleep anywhere we can.

We eat Hospital Food.

We try to keep our spirits happy!

*Ohio Reception*

Our wedding day was in May; however, many friends and family on Adam's side couldn't make it, so Adam's family had a reception for all those that couldn't make the wedding. There were many people there that played such a HUGE roll in shaping what Adam is today that were there. It was so exciting to see everyone and make many more new friends.

*Defendorf Visit*

We took a road trip together to Clark Summit, PA, to visit our very good friends, Fred & Hannah Defendorf. They were best friends with Adam and best friends with me, which they thought they should set us up together...VOILA!! Anyway, we took a weekend to go visit them after they had their second child, Bruce. It was oh so very fun when we all went out to eat and we pretended that Bruce was our baby, while Fred & Hannah took Clark (their other son). It was so fun to pretend to be parents until Bruce started crying and wanted to eat. Adam and I both looked at each other...yes, we were both completely helpless!! (: Thanks for everything you have done for us, Fred & Hannah! We love you both!!

*The Keeling Wedding*

My first debut as a married woman was appearing in my very own swiss cake roll/twin sister's wedding! Shellana and I met at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp. It's so hard to believe that we went 20 years w/o knowing each other to BFF's for life. It was so wonderful to celebrate Shellana's wedding and stand (well, sit...I was throwing up) by her side just as she had done for me a few months earlier. Shellana, you have been such a wonderful friend, thanks for being there for me thru the thick and the thin. Love you!

*Hospital Stay #2*

This was the first Crohn's hospital stent as a married couple. I went straight for the Altoona hospital b/c I knew that it was going to be a long stay. This stay was two and a half weeks long. It was very rough on Adam especially b/c he had to drive 45 minutes - 1 hour each way to visit me. PLUS add to that snow and winter weather, you are just asking for an accident!!

I was admitted into the Altoona Hospital for abdominal pain and a Crohn's flare. Things got a li'l out o' control when they transferred me to UPMC. From there my Crohn's disease had created a fistula from my intestine to my abdominal cavity. Surgery was an emergency, then I developed pneumonia, then I was put into a coma after I coded 2 times. Needless to say the past few months were a bit stressful. To see more click here. We are very thankful for our family and our friends that helped us out SO much during this trying time. Thanks. It's been a long year, but WE made it!!
